Joinville civil police in northern Santa Catarina have identified a gang responsible for scamming companies across the state. More than 80 cases of fraud were registered, and only in the city of Joinville, where the activity is carried out, the amount of fraud exceeded 115 thousand reais.

This Friday (17), civil police officers served three warrants for search and seizure at four addresses, as well as two warrants for preventive arrest. A third member of the gang has also been placed under preventive detention, but he is on the run and is expected to be arrested in the coming days.

According to civilian police, a gang specialized in fraud committed scams against companies on the coast of Santa Catarina, cases were identified in Joinville, Jaragua do Sul, Governador Celso Ramos, Blumenau, Balneario Camboriu, Florianopolis, Tubarao, Crisium and others. . . .

The sum of the gang’s operations in just over six months resulted in business losses exceeding half a million reais. Only in Joinville, the base of operations, the amount of fraud exceeded 115,000 reais.

The targets were mainly construction companies that transferred, rented or disposed of goods and products to fraudsters who acted with CNPJ and third-party registration data, inducing the victim to sign a contract with payment in boleto. After acquiring the goods or product, they disappeared and were never found by the victims.

To date, more than 80 records have been collected about the facts of the commission of identical crimes by a criminal group. The judiciary and the prosecutor’s office understood the same as the police authorities, in the sense that, although without violence or serious threat, these were crimes committed for the purpose of earning money, and that the harmful ability of the gang to freedom was enormous.

Thus, all precautions were issued in the form of civilian police, search warrants and a warrant for provisional arrest. The work was carried out by a brigade of the 3rd police station of Joinville.
