More than ten people were arrested in an operation this Thursday (16) in Tres Barras, on the northern plateau of Santa Catarina, which targeted a criminal group guarding policemen.
According to civilian police, the investigation began after police from the DIC (Criminal Investigation Unit) in Canoignas learned that members of a criminal organization were tracking unmarked vehicles used by police officers.
The group also tracked the personal vehicles and home addresses of the agents. All this using, among other things, an employee who worked at a construction site next to the police station and recorded video to identify cars parked there. The purpose of the surveillance, police said, was to anticipate any possible police action.
Operation Vigia is issuing 15 search and seizure warrants and 13 arrest warrants and is still ongoing, with 12 people detained. Also, according to the Civil Police, firearms and a significant amount of drugs were confiscated from the detainees.
The investigation should be completed in the coming days for transfer to the prosecutor’s office.
