Adriano Balbinote, 46, from Santa Catarina, is one of the seven victims of the bar massacre in Sinop/MT, 500 km from Cuiaba, on Tuesday afternoon (21). He was born in Chancera, in the west of Santa Catarina, and has been living in Mato Grosso for 23 years.

Adriano was sitting drinking beer when two armed men overtook the people at the bar. One of them killed the victims with shots from a 12mm rifle. This was told by Adriano’s cousin, 46-year-old Manoela Aparecida Bajo, who lives in Xanser. no data+ details about her childhood and relationship with him. The mothers of Manoela and Adriano are sisters and they studied together until the third grade at a school located in the community of Pesqueiro de Cima in the hinterland of Xancere.

“We shared a desk at school and lived side by side. Our childhood was always there,” he recalls.

At the age of 9, Manoela went to live with her parents in the city of Xancere, while Adriano remained in the countryside until the age of 23, when he moved to Mato Grosso with his parents and two younger brothers.

Looking for a better life

“They left in search of a better life. My uncles liked Sinop, they sold everything here and went to try their hand at life. They bought a farm and built rental houses. The father went to help them build houses. His father and mother live on rental houses and pensions,” he says.

The cousin reveals that Adriano never married or even had children. He lived with his parents and was always the right hand in everything. “As a child, he had difficulty walking and talking due to problems with his mother’s pregnancy. Today he led a normal life despite some minor restrictions,” he explains.

Adriano recently retired and built a house to rent out. According to Manoela, he has worked with shared services in several locations. “He didn’t have a permanent job, but he always worked. Helped a lot at home. He was always helpful.”

Manoela last spoke to her cousin on October 4, when Adriano turned 46. “I called to congratulate you. He was a very happy person, wherever he was, there was no sadness. He loved parties. They came here often, for more than two years they did not disappear without visiting their families.”

Manoela learned of Adriano’s death from another cousin who had also moved to Sinop for work. “For us, it was a very big shock, especially since the way it happened, he was shot in the back. It hurts a lot because we won’t be able to be there for our cousins ​​during this difficult time,” he commented.

According to his cousin, Adriano went to the bar every day. “It was a block from their house. Everyone there liked him. He wasn’t the type to get into fights, he was very friendly. From what we have learned, the two men they killed were already criminals and were even arrested on other occasions. All this is very sad,” he concluded.

Crime Motivation

The motive for the crime is being investigated by the civilian police, but according to the military police, the two men played billiards for money and lost the match. Then they came back with another amount and lost again.

The two perpetrators were identified as Edgar Ricardo de Oliveira, 30, and Ezekias Sousa Ribeiro, 27. The duo remain on the run.
