A resident of Santo Amaro da Imperatris in Greater Florianopolis shared a video in which she shows the inconvenience children in the municipality have to face on the perilous river journey until they reach school in Palhosa on Tuesday (14) .
The video shared by resident Simona Alves already had over 73,800 views by 11:30 this Thursday (16).
The footage shows children trying to balance between rocks with their backpacks as they try to cross the river that forms the border between the two municipalities. Even with the help of a colleague, one of the girls slips and gets her foot wet in the water.
In the comments, many users expressed concern. “I kept thinking that if it rains and the water level rises, these children will not be able to get back”, “Wetting your foot is the least of all, but if you slip on such a stone and hit your head? Like this?”.

Mayor’s office clarifies lack of assistance
The mayor’s office of Palos and Santo Amaro da Imperatris explains that about a year ago, the municipal and state governments signed an agreement to install a bridge on the border between the cities.
Palhoça, due to its greater capacity, carried out the origins (which are in place) while the state intervened with the placement of the repositioning kit. The Santo Amaro Civil Defense said it received the materials free of charge. However, the tender for the purchase of kits expired with the change of government.
“All measures related to Santo Amaro da Imperatris have been taken. Temporary bridges were even rebuilt twice, for which Santo Amaro was responsible,” repeated Ricardo Costa, mayor of Santo Amaro da Imperatriz.
Adriano Caldas of Santo Amaro Civil Defense says the delay in the deployment of the kit by the state and the lack of an installation forecast has caused inconvenience to both residents and farmers who need to cross the border.
This Thursday, he reports that the municipality’s Civil Defense is on site, which is conducting a third time temporary sabotage until the material is posted. In total, the state can accommodate 60 sets.
The government has already held a new tender, and last Saturday (11) a company was identified that will carry out the work. The winning company says that “they will start assembling the bridge shortly and are already starting production of the transposition kit.”
