David Santos of Santa Catarina is part of a humanitarian group that works in cities affected by the earthquakes that rocked cities in Turkey and Syria last Monday (6).
Born in Balneario Gaivota, south of Santa Catarina, David is a nursing technician and went to Turkey on a religious mission with his wife more than a year ago. According to the volunteer, the focus is on distributing kits with food, medicines and first aid supplies to help those affected by the disaster.
“Yesterday we sent a group of 14 people to the city of Hatay, they conducted an inspection to find out what the needs are. Therefore, today we set aside a day to buy groceries and everything we needed to go there,” said David.
The death toll from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria already exceeds 25 thousand people. The most recent official balances are: Turkey: 21,848 and Syria: 3,500.
“The city is still very unsettled, people are still very scared. Keep praying for us, keep promoting our work here.”
