A bank branch located in downtown Santa Cecilia, in the Midwest of Santa Catarina, may have been the target of a robbery attempt earlier this Monday afternoon (6). Rua Tânia Ceolla Gaudência, where the bank branch is located, was completely closed until 16:00.
The PM (Military Police) and PC (Civilian Police) teams are active in the incident, which is still ongoing, with the support of a Saer (Border Air Police Service) and DEIC (State Criminal Investigation Department) helicopter. ).
Information circulated around the city that a bank employee and his family had been taken hostage inside the agency. There are also reports that a bomb disposal team has arrived in the municipality to test the possibility of an explosive belt on one of the alleged hostages. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
On the other hand, an employee of the Santa Cecilia City Hall claims that the robbery would not have happened due to the quick action of the police.
