Samae de Blumenau warns the public this Saturday morning (4) of new water shortage problems due to turbidity in the Itajai Asu river. The cause was heavy rain in Alto Vale this Friday (3).
A Samae’s main treatment plant, ETA 2, which supplies 70% of the municipality’s population, has reduced operations.
On this Saturday morning, it was running at 70% capacity so that the equipment could be cleaned due to the contamination of the water collected from the river.
According to Samae’s communiqué, the turbidity level reached 2209 NTU at 06:52. It is normal if the value is close to 100 NTU.
The municipality of Blumenau warns the public that there will be interruptions in the water supply in some regions, including due to increased water consumption when the temperature rises during the day.
Samae asks residents to continue saving water and not wasting it.
Until February 16, a municipal decree remains in force warning the municipality to consume water from Samae, with the possibility of a fine in case of irresponsible consumption.
