Work on the duplication of BR-470, lots e3 and 4, between Gaspard, Blumenau and Indaial has been slower in recent weeks. The reason for this new stalemate was the delay in paying contracted contractors for services rendered so far.
Information circulating in the Itajaí Valley indicates that the bills for November and December have not been paid by the government of Carlos Moises. The Infrastructure Secretariat has an obligation to pay off the last two months of last year on 17 February.
This work was carried out in accordance with the terms of the Technical Cooperation Agreement, which is the result of a partnership between the state and federal governments. Of the 465 million reais allocated to various federal highways,
300 million reais have been reserved for duplicating the BR-470, and 100 million reais in two installments for Lots 3 and 4, precisely those that are moving at a slower pace.
With regard to the BR-280 project, Planalto Norte’s services run as normal, without delays. The federal government made the actual payments through DNIT.
The duplication of federal roads has been one of the main themes of the latest political campaign of both government candidates and those who ran for parliament.
All promised to fight for the duplication of highways, with an emphasis on the BR-470, one of the pillars of the state’s economy and the main link between west and east, at the expense of ports and the viability of products sold in the south and southeast of the country of Brazil.
