The three people, two women and one man, who died Tuesday in Huelva in a house fire in the Isla Chica neighborhood were young students between the ages of 20 and 21.

Reportedly EFE from Emergencias 112 in Andalusia, about ten people were inside the building at the time of the fire, seven of whom were able to get out on their own, and three more who died were trapped.

The events took place around 7:45 am when several calls from witnesses alerted the 112 service to a fire in a house on the first floor of a three-family house located on Villanueva de los Castillejos Street, and also reported the presence of people trapped.

The fire brigade, local police and medical services attended the scene. The latter treated a dozen people, three of them, two women and a man, were transferred in critical condition to the Juan Ramon Jimenez Hospital, where they later died, the national police confirmed.

Seven people received treatment for minor conditions and injuries, which resulted in the transfer of a man to the Juan Ramon Jiménez Hospital and two women to a primary health care centre.

The building was completely evacuated and the condition of the unit checked by a utility technician who ruled out structural damage.
