On the hot days of this summer season, there is nothing better than a dip in the sea to cool off. A project by the Santa Catarina Military Fire Department, in collaboration with Asilo Dom Bosco, has enabled seniors from Itajaí, on the state’s north coast, to spend a day at the beach.
The action of the project “Accessible Beach” took place on Tuesday (24) on Cabesudas beach in Itajai. With the help of an amphibious chair, the elderly were able to enjoy the sea.
The event was attended by six elderly people with disabilities. The actions were monitored by military firefighters, as well as military and civilian rescuers from the 7th Army Fire Battalion (7th AFV).
“It is a great pleasure for CBMSC in Itajai to carry out this activity with such noble people who were very happy and grateful for this experience. To see how they enter the sea and engage in activities that they have not been engaged in for a long time is priceless, ”says the corporation.
Amphibious chairs make it easier for people with limited mobility to access the sea, allowing them to practice this activity, which many times a disabled person could not try for a while.
Several municipalities carry out this activity as a form of social inclusion, especially during the summer season, through the Santa Catarina Military Fire Department’s “Accessible Beach” project.
