A 95-year-old man died early this Sunday after a fire broke out in his house, located on Campo de Volantin in Bilbao.

As the Basque Security Department told Europa Press, the event started around 2:00 am when, for reasons that are being investigated, a fire broke out in the house.

Members of the fire brigade, Ertzaintza agents and toilets moved to the place, who transferred the resident of the house, located on the fifth floor, to the Cruces hospital. The victim, a 95-year-old man, died a few hours later.

Because of the smoke, the residents of two other neighboring houses were also evicted, although they were able to return to their homes soon after. Ertzaintza launched an investigation to find out the facts.
