The CBMSC (Santa Catarina Military Fire Department) responded to a case of drowning and death in Praia de Illeus, in Governador Celso Ramos around noon this Saturday (28).
According to firefighters, having received a call, the Archangel helicopter, along with naval support for watercraft, was advanced from the Palmas barracks to rescue two drowning people. At the scene, firefighters began examining the first victim, a 43-year-old man whose heart stopped.
Eyewitnesses in the area told firefighters that the victim was diving with his wife when they were swept away by the reverse current. The woman was saved by bathers, who pulled her out of the water with the help of bamboo.
The Arkhangelsk garrison performed extended CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) procedures for about 25 minutes, after which the 43-year-old victim could not stand it and died on the spot.

A 25-year-old woman also had to be rescued by helicopter after she drowned last Thursday afternoon (26). The accident happened on Ilheus beach in Governador Celso Ramos.
Firefighters managed to save the victim and provide basic service support. Aircraft “Archangel 03” arrived on the scene to provide more advanced assistance and resuscitate the woman.
After stabilization, the patient was taken to Florianopolis University Hospital.
