The death of a woman from asphyxiation at her home in Itajai, on the north coast of South Carolina, took on new consequences almost three months later. The civilian police returned this Monday (23) to the house where the crime took place and found three kilos of cocaine hidden inside the bed.
The victim’s 37-year-old husband will be the main suspect in the crime, according to an investigation by Itajai’s Child, Adolescent, Women and Elderly Protection Police Department (DPCAMI).
The suicidal act was supposed to take place after he allegedly discovered the victim’s treachery. The suspect has been on the run ever since.
This week, the civilian police returned to the house where the crime took place to carry out additional searches. It was then that four packets of a white powdery substance were found in the bed.
According to police, it was previously determined that it was cocaine already mixed with other elements.
The material was seized by Itajai’s Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) and a police investigation was launched to determine the origin of the drug. Both the victim and the femicide suspect had a history of drug trafficking.

On November 7, 2022, a 41-year-old woman was found dead at home in the Espineiros area of Itajaí.
The crime came to light when the victim’s 13-year-old daughter called the police because her mother was missing.
The girl told the police that the night before her mother and stepfather had a fight and left the house. The man told the girl that he would take the woman to her mother’s house.
The next day, the girl called her maternal grandmother, who said that the woman was not around. She was also not seen at work. With that, she called the police. Both the 13-year-old daughter and the 5-year-old daughter were locked in a room.
The victim was found already dead in another locked room. No signs of physical struggle, blood or firearms were found, police said. It is suspected that she died of asphyxiation.
The man fled to Parana shortly after the crime, but before that he went to his family’s home in Camboriu and confessed to killing the woman. The family members then called the girls and told the 13-year-old girl to call the police, which she did.
The suspect’s family members also said that he had temporarily left the Joinville Industrial Prison and should return in a few days. He would have discovered his companion’s alleged infidelity and would not have returned to prison.
