The 1st Civilian Police Station began investigating the collapse of a building wall at a Ouija center in Chapeco/South Carolina on Monday night (23). One woman died, 10 others were injured, three remain in the hospital.

Thiago de Oliveira, the delegate in charge of the case, said the investigation would collect expert opinions from the scene of the accident and should hear from the people who were at the scene. The civil engineer and owner of the building will also be questioned.

The delegate also reported that only one witness was heard in the incident report. The investigation must be completed within 30 days in order to investigate possible negligence, negligence or malpractice on the part of those responsible.

The wall on the 19th floor of the building collapsed due to the force of the wind during a storm that passed through Chapeco, with gusts of up to 100 km / h. The building ended up in a religious center, where there were about 25 people, on Rua Porto Alegre, in the center of the municipality.

Helena Bordignon, 29, died instantly, the rest were left with only injuries. Three of them remain in hospitals, one of the victims is in a more serious state of health. The victims are between 29 and 66 years old.

It’s a home, according to the Civil Defense, and the religious space used to be where the garage was converted into a 40-square-meter auditorium. Luciano Huning, the authority’s municipal coordinator, said the religious house had already been vacated for the space needed to be maintained. The floor of the collapsed building had to be seized, as it currently does not provide the necessary security.
