Hounded by the Federal Police this Friday (20), retired Federal District Governor Ibanez Rocha (MDB) used social media to deny any connection to the January 8 vandalism of the tri-power headquarters.
“There is nothing that can connect me with the conspirators who attacked the Three Powers. I have always behaved in such a way as to cooperate with the investigation, and I adhere to the same position. I even made a spontaneous statement to the Federal Police, showing that there is nothing to be afraid of, ”wrote emedebista.
Ibaneis was removed from the government for 90 days by the decision of the Minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Alexander de Moraes, approved by the plenum of the court. This Friday (20), the Federal Police carried out search and seizure warrants at three addresses associated with the governor: his home, Buriti Palace, and Ibanez’s law firm.
Re-elected in the 2022 elections, the ousted governor said he believes there was sabotage by the military police during the vandalism that destroyed the Planalto Palace and the National Congress and STF buildings. Through the lawyers who represent him, Alberto Toron and Kleber López, Ibanez claims he received incorrect information about the security measures at the Esplanade dos Ministerios.
“The development of the investigation revealed and brought new facts every day, indicating some kind of sabotage in the actions of the military police. They also indicate that he had erroneous and falsified information, and therefore it cannot be said in any way that he was in collusion with the movement that took place last Sunday (8),” the lawyers said at the time.
