The funeral took place in the cemetery in the municipality of Campo Ere, in the same place where the 24-year-old mother of Neus Diaz Maciel was buried. Neusa’s body was found buried near the house where she, her partner Ademar Caneiro and their daughters lived on December 22, 2022.

On December 20, Ademar was also found burned in his own car. According to the military police, the car in which Adémar’s body was located, a Parati car with Biguaçu/SC license plates, was on the road on the Plataneia line, deep in the municipality. The car had a broken fender, traces of a possible collision with a tree.

“There was no wake because of the weather and the position of the bodies. It was just a funeral ceremony. I have completed my last mission of guarding their bodies. The pain is huge, but before that we had the feeling that this whole tragedy was not over yet. Now we have managed to close a difficult chapter,” said the girls’ aunt and Neusa’s sister, who declined to give her name.

The children’s bodies were released on Tuesday (17) with the permission of the court. According to civilian police delegate Roberto Marin Fronza, this permission was necessary because the DNA test confirming the identification of the bodies had not yet been completed.

“The identification of them and Ademar will only be confirmed during the examination, but due to the delay in obtaining the results, we requested a judicial release so that the bodies can be buried,” explains Fronza.

The delegate said he did not rule out any hypotheses about Adémar’s death, such as murder, suicide or a traffic accident, but was convinced that he was the one who killed his two stepdaughters and wife.

The couple was together for two years
