The man was shot dead during a colleague’s wake in Ponte Alta do Norte, in Santa Catarina’s Midwest. The attempted murder was recorded by the PM (military police) around 7:30 am on Tuesday (17). The commemoration was held in the Evangelical Church.
According to the police, after the shooting, the suspect ran to the PM unit, according to him, fearing reprisals, and handed over his firearm. He told the military that he was at a wake and that a man with whom he had a long-standing disagreement had just arrived at the scene.
The suspect also said that the man [com quem tinha desavenças] He was always armed and had a backpack. At some point, he would put his hand in the backpack. The suspect then drew a revolver and fired six shots. He told the officers that he did not see any weapons and said that he only fired in self-defense.
The victim was rescued and taken to the Curitibanos hospital in critical condition. According to police, the man was wounded in the pelvis and arm on the left side and needed surgery. His current state of health has not been reported.
Witnesses were identified in the church and the site was sealed off to preserve the scene of the crime until the arrival of the Science Police and the Civil Police. The suspect was taken for a medical examination to the Scientific Police and then taken to the Curitibanos Civil Police Station, where he was arrested at the scene of the crime.
