Two days before Rosinia Katarina Lach, 30, was stabbed to death by her husband, police were at the couple’s home in Joinville, north of Santa Catarina. The garrison was activated because Rosinea was threatened by her partner Antonio Fagundes de Oliveira.
Sgt. Nelson de Oliveira y Silva of the Tactical Patrol Company (CPT) says that around 11 p.m. Friday (9), Rosinia’s mother and neighbors called the Prime Minister saying that Antonio had threatened his wife.
The man was quite aggressive and even attacked the teams, which were later called checkpoints. However, when the tactical patrol garrison arrived on the scene, Antonio was already on the run.
In light of this, the sergeant says that Rosiney was instructed not to stay at home precisely because of her husband’s threats. “He promised he would kill her, and unfortunately he did,” he says.
A man would kill animals to feed an alligator
Sergeant Nelson says that after Antonio’s escape on Friday, the police were told that there was an alligator in the house. “We found him behind the closet, bowed without harming the animal, inflicted a wound in his mouth and called the competent authority,” he says.
According to the sergeant, a family member from Rosinea said that the alligator belonged to António and that he would kill the neighborhood dogs to cure the animal. Five firearms and ammunition, as well as other paraphernalia, were also found at the scene.
Victim reporting abuse since 2011
The crime, interpreted as femicide, took place on Sunday afternoon (11) at the house of Rosinia’s brother, where she went precisely in order to escape from her husband. Antonio arrived on the scene and stabbed a woman who was even holding one of her children on her lap.
The child was not seriously injured, but the mother died on the spot. The police were called and Antonio even attempted to stab a police officer, who fired back with a firearm, killing the 34-year-old.
According to Dirceu Police Chief Silveira Junior, the victim, who is survived by four children between the ages of 1 and 14, has already denounced her partner several times since 2011, with a complaint filed even on the day of her death. A police investigation was launched to investigate a crime with the qualifier femicide.
