This Wednesday (7) in Garuva, north of Santa Catarina, a man was provisionally arrested on suspicion of selling illegal firearms in Rio de Janeiro.
Deputy António Seixas Joca, head of the Draco (Delegation for the Suppression of Organized Crime) Deic (Delegation for Criminal Investigations), said the 31-year-old had already received a warrant for provisional arrest in connection with the ongoing police investigation. Rio de Janeiro.
Santa Catarina agents issued four search and seizure warrants in Garouve and Joinville, two in each municipality.
The action is part of the execution of warrants issued by the Sole Decision of Mangaratiba (RJ) during Phase 2 of Operation Cartridge.
According to Agência Brasil, a total of six arrest warrants and 10 search and seizure warrants have been issued in Santa Catarina and Parana against suspected arms dealers. By 8:10 am on Wednesday, five people had already been arrested.
The targets of the second stage of the operation will be members of a criminal organization that transported weapons to Rio de Janeiro.
The first stage of the operation
The first phase of Operation Patrone took place on October 13 this year and ended with the arrest of four people suspected of transporting a rifle and a pistol from Santa Catarina to the state of Rio.
Based on this investigation, the civilian police determined that one of the suspects was a fugitive from Parana and was living in Rio de Janeiro under an assumed name. The police put him in charge of a drug gang in the Pontal do Paraná area.
However, according to Agência Brasil, suppliers of weapons and ammunition to the criminal group and other members of a gang specializing in drug trafficking in Paraná were also identified.
The suspect will act like an orange to the group, opening bank accounts and using an Itaguai (RJ) grain export company to launder money.
This Wednesday’s action was supported by civilian police officers from Parana and Santa Catarina.
