The scene was recorded around 5:10 pm this Monday (6) and was filmed by a truck driver that showed heavy rain falling on a BR-470, in Serra San Miguel, in Ibiram, in the Itajai Valley.

According to information collected by the Alexandre José portal, the truck overturned shortly after the incident. Photographs taken by passers-by show that one of the truck’s axles is loose.

The Ibirama Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene of the incident with information that the truck had been loaded with a hazardous product. The 50-year-old driver of the car was trapped in the wreckage and, after being rescued, was taken by Samu to Rio do Sul Regional Hospital in serious condition.

The truck was loaded with 34,440 liters of vegetable oil. As it was an accident with hazardous products, the Ibirama Protection and Civil Defense was called in to manage the cargo and call other competent authorities, as the collision caused the tanker to break and the cargo to leak.

Due to the accident, BR-470 had to be blocked late Tuesday evening.
