Altair Macedo Fonseca, 33, disappeared while trying to cross the bridge over the Pelotas River in São Joaquim, in Serra Santa Catarina, this Wednesday (30). It rained heavily throughout the state that day. According to his brother, 32-year-old Alsenir de Macedo Fonseca, the man went to the health service for medicine.

The disappearance happened around 11 am and until 3:35 pm this Thursday (1st) there is still no news of Altair Macedo’s whereabouts.

According to his brother, the man was wearing a red shirt, black sweatpants and rubber boots at the time of his disappearance.

The family does not conduct searches on the recommendation of the fire department, which warns that there is a risk of more accidents near the scene.

The corporation also told the family this Thursday morning that they had analyzed the land where the man had disappeared with a drone in an attempt to find him, but found nothing. Another disadvantage is associated with the use of a lifeboat, which is not yet possible. This is because the current in this place is still very strong.

“When the river goes down, they said they would use the boat and other resources they could. The water is very muddy, it is impossible to see something that is at the bottom,” says Alcenir de Macedo.

The family is devastated by this event. According to the brother, the pain is indescribable.
