This Wednesday morning (23) two houses were demolished in Florianopolis. According to the mayor’s office, they were built irregularly in the zone of permanent conservation and in the zone of limited protection, without permission and license.
The property was located in Caeira do Saco dos Limoes. One of the houses was stone and the other wooden. According to the mayor’s office, in addition to the fact that they were on conservation, they had other violations.
The houses, both one-story, were still under construction. No one lived there, according to the prefecture. According to the municipal secretary for urban development, Fabio Botello, the buildings were demolished to prevent further encroachment on the neighborhoods.
“We have a kindergarten near the site and the demolition was important to ensure the safety of workers and children, as the so-called “cats” in the electric light, which can start fires and overload the network, were also identified,” the secretary added.
The demolition of the houses was carried out by City Hall crews through the Municipal Department of Urban Development and Floram (Municipal Fund for the Environment of Florianopolis). The GMF (Municipal Guard) and the Military Police provided security support at the site. According to GMF, there was no confusion.

The city of Florianopolis stepped up its work to check and combat illegal constructions in the municipality. This year, from January to November, there were 132 demolitions of irregularly shaped buildings that do not comply with municipal legislation.
According to the SMDU (City Urban Development Administration), 80% were complete and 20% were partial. This month alone, 11 demolitions have already taken place.
The prefecture’s recommendation is to crack down on cases of irregular work. To do this, just contact the Municipal Department of Urban Planning at (48) 3251-4942. You can also file a complaint by email: [email protected].
