The birth of a 12-year-old girl last month in Itajaí, on the north coast of Santa Catarina, has developed in recent weeks, pointing to a stepfather as the child’s alleged father. The civil police and the MPSC (State Department of Santa Catarina) are investigating the case.

In October, the girl gave birth at the Marieta Konder Bornhausen hospital, which called the police and the MPSC because it involved the rape of a vulnerable person. The first information that the Board of Trustees had access to was that the girl hid the pregnancy from the family, and the child would be from the alleged boyfriend, also a teenager.

“It was not known that the girl was pregnant, only during childbirth, and Marieta notified the Board of Trustees and the public ministry in a timely manner. The Council began to make inquiries. The unit is escorting this young child and a 12-year-old girl who is still a child and therefore under the jurisdiction of the council as it is a case of rape of a vulnerable person,” the Board of Trustees explained in the note. .

Despite this, the police continued to investigate the case, and the Board of Trustees began to monitor both the girl and the baby. The girl’s mother adopted the child as her own, and the girl began to live with her maternal grandmother.

In recent weeks, family members have denounced the girl’s stepfather as the child’s father, denouncing the series of abuse the minor endured while living with his mother and stepfather.

“The board of trustees is supporting the case to protect both the child and the 12-year-old. Last week, complaints began to appear that this baby will be the son of a stepfather. Until then, this information was not available,” the Board of Trustees confirmed.

The investigation is being led by DPCAMI (Delegation for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly) Itajai, who did not provide additional details of the case to no data+???????? Marieta Hospital also did not transmit information.

Since the case involved the rape of a vulnerable person, the investigation is conducted in secrecy. The State Ministry is also closely following the case. Any sexual act involving minors under the age of 14 is considered by an independent court as rape of a vulnerable person if other minors are involved.
