These two events are selective for the 2023 national and world meetings.
Numbers highlight the importance of serving the public
In Santa Catarina alone, in the 12 months of 2021, volunteer firefighters (23,803), military firefighters (51,142) and SAMU (56,807) treated 131,752 victims of some type of injury.
“This means that on average every four minutes an ambulance arrives with the first to arrive,” says Igor Arakhon Shvingel, volunteer firefighter, adviser to the World Rescue Organization WRO and member of the WRO Vehicle Rescue Training and Development Committee.
According to him, the problems of injuries are fundamental to the development of emergency services.
“When we deal with emergency services, we understand that education is the only tool that can nurture professionals for this activity, which requires us to develop skills for rapid diagnosis and the right decisions about the treatment of victims,” he notes.
