Separation of parents, first discoveries, achievements, teachers and new acquaintances. Considered one of the most important stages of a person’s schooling, preschool education, covering the age group from zero to six years old, is the stage of basic education, which develops the basic abilities of a person, from walking on two legs to the development of speech, memory, imagination and abstract thinking. All of these skills are reinforced at this stage of life, explains Deborah Schutz, Director of Early Childhood Education at the Florianopolis Department of Education.
She also reminds that the educational environment is also important for the child to lead a social life outside the family, learn to communicate and live in society, developing basic skills for shaping a person in addition to cognitive and motor skills.
In order to provide children in Florianopolis with all these needs, as well as the best conditions and assistance for children, the City Hall of the capital is investing and expanding the structure offered throughout the school network.
For example, according to the municipal department of education, the number of Neims (children’s educational centers) will be increased to six in the future. The project currently being carried out at Neim Doralice Maria Dias (Vargem do Bom Jesus) will also be carried out at José Rodrigues Willamil (Tapera), Orlandina Cordeiro (Saco Grande), Professor Otília Cruz (Coloninha), Morro do Horacio ( in the center) and Sergio Grando (in the center).
Minister of Education Mauricio Fernández Pereira emphasizes that the municipal administration established this year Neim do Futuro Doralice Maria Dias as an educational and pedagogical work to expand what the network already offered to children in preschool education. “He works very well. Given the success of the project and the wealth of opportunities the children have received, we are expanding the number of centers with this proposal.”
Principal Deborah adds that the hallmark of the kindergartens of the future is the inclusion of teachers in various fields such as technology, scales, English, music and visual arts in the curriculum and proposals prepared around three axes: sustainability, technology and integrated learning. which expands various human aspects.
Play as a structuring axis of work
She also recalls that the public school system already has a curriculum that sees play as a structural axis of designed work, taking into account the unique characteristics of childhood. “Play is a way for children to communicate with the world, it is a guiding activity for development in this age group. A child develops language from emotional communication between about zero and two years of age. By manipulating objects, she develops her memory, and by playing, she develops the ability for imagination, abstract thinking: she gives a different meaning to objects that already have social significance, ”he explains.
Deborah Schutz also explains that these needs and activities with children are built into the municipality’s curriculum and all practices designed for the Neim of the future have these requirements as their axis. “We also have a curriculum organized by a core of pedagogical action that includes languages, social relations and nature that seeks to contemplate the various human dimensions while thinking about the holistic formation of these children. That’s why the inclusion of these professionals in the field who have specific knowledge and are eager to contribute to this perspective of what we have as a curriculum,” she explains.
Robotics equipment and expanded children’s collection
In addition to the new kindergartens of the future, the city of Florianopolis also opened four new kindergartens this year. In addition, the municipality is investing in the acquisition of robotics materials for preschools and a new literature collection for each service group. “We have also invested in organizing bespoke furniture to help organize spaces, games and pedagogical relationships, and we are also in the process of purchasing toys to update materials and equip all office spaces,” says the director. Children’s education in the capital.
