After complaints of moral harassment, including the duty of employees to pray the Lord’s Prayer, a company in Belo Horizonte has to pay a former employee a compensation of 10,000 reais. The decision of the second instance, the Minas Gerais Regional Labor Court, was made public this Thursday (13).
The plaintiff presented to the court the facts related to religious discrimination, physical aggression, discrimination due to pregnancy, listing of lateness and absenteeism. According to the investigation, the company acted for the purpose of intimidation, so that it would be difficult for the victim to advance the labor claim process.
As the court pointed out, the former employee stated that the problems in the company worsened in the last two years of her work, when the situation became unbearable due to constant moral harassment by the director of the company. The script forced the woman to leave the place.
Despite the fact that she was not an adherent of religious beliefs, she and all other employees of the institution were forced to pray before the start of the service, which caused her embarrassment, as she began to be late for the service in order to avoid this moment.
“It happened that before the start of the working day, the director gathered employees and forced them to participate in a moment called “Our Father Prayer,” the woman said in the process.
