Two women accused of being involved in the couple’s murder, Evanir Pires do Santos Taborda, 34 (at the time), and Simone da Silva Fialho, 32, were convicted in Chapeco, west of Santa Catarina. The crime took place on January 20, 2021, but the bodies were not found until May 19 of the same year.

The trial lasted two days, and the verdict was announced around 19 pm on Tuesday (11) at the forum of the municipality area. Cumulatively, the sentences amount to 68 years, six months and six days in prison, both behind closed doors and without the right to appeal at large, according to the TJSC (Santa Catarina Court).

Two women were convicted of two murders. The Sentencing Board, composed of two men and five women, recognized the qualifiers of clumsy motive and ambush in relation to Evanir’s murder, and the useless motive and appeal that made it difficult for the victim to defend Simone’s murder.

On these charges, one of the defendants was sentenced to 30 years and four months in prison. The other, in addition to being responsible for the crimes of qualified murder, had another charge found by a jury for concealing a corpse, twice, as they were the two victims. Thus, the total sentence was 37 years, 11 months and six days in prison.

According to the complaint, one of them lured Evanir to the place where the third accused was waiting for him. There, the victim was shot four times. Simona, on the other hand, was taken deep into the neighboring municipality, where she received two shots.

The bodies were buried in pits in the middle of the forest and four months later were discovered by the ATS (Criminal Investigation Unit) under the leadership of the civilian police chief, Wagner Papini. The second defendant, who came out to the jury, participated in driving one of the cars in which the victims were transported, still alive and after the crime. The man accused of being the author of the shooting is considered to be wanted.

Evanir and Simone were last seen on January 20, 2021. He left the house and went to his washing machine located in the San Cristovan area.

At about 8 in the morning I returned home, took my mother-in-law and my 3.5-year-old son to the doctor for a haircut. He then returned to work and that was the last time he was seen. However, she would have gone towards Ligna Peruzzo, in the depths of Chapeco, and no one else saw her.

According to Delegate Wagner Papini in charge of the case, the two victims had a “public and notorious” love relationship. On the day they were last seen, both were taken to the area of ​​the Peruso line in Chapeco.

At the scene, Evanir was shot four times and placed in the trunk of a car. According to police, the shooter was a 56-year-old man. The suspects then took Simona to the Alto da Serra line, deep into the municipality, with the promise that she would be released.

However, for no apparent reason, just because “I was with Evanir”, the suspects also killed her on the spot. She was wounded twice, once in the head and once in the chest. Both were killed on the day they disappeared, 20 January.

Location of bodies

Police did not specify how they arrived at the burial site. They analyzed it on the spot, the ground was disturbed, several graves were dug out on the night of May 18, manually.

The police then found the slippers that belonged to Simone. The delegate contacted the fire department, and on the afternoon of May 19, with the help of a sniffer dog, the bodies were recovered.

Evanir’s body was discovered first around 2:00 pm. Simone’s body was found at 5:00 pm. After being examined by the science police, they found four pistol bullets in Evanir’s body and two in Simone’s body, fired from a .22 caliber weapon.

The police ruled out the possible involvement of Evanir’s wife Claudia Regina Bee in the crime. Simone was 11 weeks pregnant, but no fetus was found in the victim’s uterus. However, a pregnancy test confirmed that she would be pregnant.

Suspects already served time for murder

The shooter, a 56-year-old man, had already served time for murder. One of the 35-year-old women was also serving a sentence for the same crime. The 25-year-old has no police records. She, according to the police, cooperated with the information to find the victims. Three suspects from Chapeco.

The man abandoned Evanir’s car, a Volkswagen Up, on a public road in the city of Trindade do Sul (RS), about 73 km from Chapeco. The car was discovered three days after the crime. The car was driven there to hide from the police. He stays on the run.
