The Teresa Cristina Railway, which is responsible for the train that pulled the car last week in Crisium, south of Santa Catarina, said it had already recorded eight such accidents on the tracks in 2022.
According to the company, all due to the negligence of drivers, since the latter was registered on Wednesday (5). At the time, the driver of a Renault Clio was trying to cross the track and was hit by a train.
According to the conductor, he was distracted by the children who were in the car, and did not understand that the train was passing at that moment. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

The military police said the locomotive had 19 cars and came from Sideropolis. The police found that the train was running with all safety devices, such as lights, siren, gyroflex and whistle.
In a note, the railroad, which operates in 14 cities in Santa Catarina, from Sideropolis to Imbituba, explained that the level crossing is equipped in accordance with current regulations.
It is also reported that the train driver blew his whistle and braked, observing all necessary safety measures, but could not avoid the accident.
According to Art. 212 of the Brazilian Road Code, failure to stop a vehicle before crossing a railway line is a very serious violation.
