Another shocking crime that adds to the painful statistics of violence against women in Santa Catarina. Zorilda Gonçalves, 45, was a woman brutally murdered by her husband this Friday (age 23) in São Bento do Sul, on the northern plateau of the state.

“It was a complete femicide,” explained delegate Gilles Rafael Ribas from Sao Bento do Sul.

Neighbors saw the woman asking for help and called the military police and the fire department. It was about 8 am this Friday (23) in a house in the center of the municipality.

Neighbors noticed that there was an assault. The police arrived at the scene and noticed that the victim had many signs of aggression. Soon the firefighters rescued the victim, but, unfortunately, she could not stand it.

The 33-year-old author attempted to flee, but the military police surrounded the surrounding streets and found a man with blood on his hands and clothes. He would have confessed to being the author of the facts, and the characterizations were consistent with those given by witnesses who saw him run away.

He was arrested and presented to the duty police department, which drew up an act of qualified murder (femicide).

During interrogation, the author confirmed that he had committed the crime out of jealousy, delegate Gil Rafael Ribas said.

“I suspected that his partner was cheating on him. As a result, they would have quarreled, which resulted in aggression,” adds the delegate.

The civilian police are awaiting expert opinion on the injuries, but all indications are that the man used something like a sledgehammer/hammer to hit Zorilda Gonçalves in the head, in addition to a penknife, as she had cuts on her body.

Also, according to the delegate, the person who committed the femicide already has records of violence against other women, as well as threats against Zorilda.

Due to the seriousness of the case and the fact that he already has a history of violence against women, a preventive detention was requested so that he can answer for the detained crime. He has been sent to jail, where he is awaiting a custody hearing.

Before moving to Sao Bento do Sul, the couple lived in Jaragua do Sul, in the north of the state. The victim has since been threatened by her partner.

There is no information about the time of the couple’s relationship.

“My feelings. I can’t believe a woman with a huge heart. You will not forget how we play little games together. I liked talking to her,” wrote her friend Adriana Barbosa.

There is still no information about the wake and funeral of Zorilda Gonçalves. The body was transported from Joinville to Sao Bento do Sul on Friday afternoon.
