Postal Ecstasy. This is the name of the operation launched by the federal police this Friday morning (9) in Santa Catarina against the crime of synthetic drug trafficking through the post office. Four search and seizure warrants and one arrest warrant are served in the cities of Joinville, Araquari and Balneario Pizarras.

According to the Federal Police, the investigation began after an x-ray used by the Post Office found that some packages sent to Joinville and destined for several states in the country contained ecstasy pills, an addictive psychoactive drug.

The method of production, preparation and distribution of the drug indicates that the suspects are associated with an already investigated criminal group and with activities in other states of the country.

According to the OF, in addition to the senders, the persons who ordered the drugs are being identified, who may be held liable for drug trafficking.

The crimes of drug trafficking and complicity in the drug trade are punishable by penalties that, in aggregate, can reach up to 25 years in prison.
