Isaac Aparecido Nuñez and Ederson dos Santos were sentenced by the Bruschi Judicial Council in the Itajaí Valley to two attempted murders, one of which is a triple offense and the other a felony. The jury fully accepted the thesis of the MPSC (Ministry of State of Santa Catarina) and accepted all qualifiers: the use of a resource that made it impossible to protect the victim in two attempted murders; and a useless and semi-violent motive in another crime. The defendants were also convicted of illegal possession and illegal possession of legal firearms, respectively.

The motive for the crimes, according to the POPC complaint, was a disagreement with one of the victims, who had an affair with the girlfriend of Isaac’s son, as well as a refusal to pay the amount that the girl tried to extort from him.

With regard to the conviction of Isaac Aparecido Nunez, the sentence was 20 years and eight months in closed custody and one year and six months in semi-open detention. Ederson was sentenced to 21 years and eight months in prison.

The verdict can be appealed, but since the two were awaiting trial in remand and the court realized that the reasons for the measure still remained, they would not be able to appeal at large.

In the complaint, the Ministry of State proved that a few days before the crime, Paulo Roberto da Silva flirted with the girlfriend of the defendant’s son Isaac at a gas station. On June 27, 2021, Paulo and another victim, Giovane Garcia Vieira, went to Isaac’s house to buy drugs. They also wanted to know about the rumor that Isaac was saying that the two owed him money, referring to an alleged drug debt.

At the house, they were surprised by the presence of a girl that Paulo met at the post. It was then that Paulo found out that she was actually Isaac’s daughter. After that, the girl began to demand money from Paulo, threatening to accuse him of rape to the police.

According to the public criminal complaint, of course, “Rafaela was already in cahoots with defendants Isaac and Ederson to ‘find’ the facts against Paulo, as she knew the victim would have around R$15,000 from the exit agreement with the company. “.

Since Paulo refused to give him money, the two convicts severely beat him with fists and kicks. Ederson took a .38 revolver and, on Isaac’s orders, shot Paulo and Giovane. The first was wounded in the head, and the second in the chest.

The killings were not carried through only because, according to the complaint, “even those who received the shots, the victims managed to escape from the scene, after which they were rescued, which prevented the commission of the crime.”
