In a note published this Saturday (27), the PF (Federal Police) mourned the death of 35-year-old police officer Roberto Moreira da Silva Filho. He was the head of the police station for the investigation of crimes against the environment and the historical heritage of the PF Office in Mato Grosso.
According to UOL, the PF press office in Mato Grosso said the delegate was in charge of one phase of the Omnipresent Operation to Investigate Illegal Logging on Aripuana Indigenous Land, 947km from Cuiaba.
At the approach of trucks passing by at dawn, one of the vehicles refused to stop to inspect the group and tried to run over the police officers. The agents opened fire and one of the bullets ricocheted off the truck, hitting Roberto Moreira.
Brazil’s Minister of State for Justice and Public Security, Anderson Torres, mourned the delegate’s death on social media. “A big loss for the PF,” he said.
