The group was arrested by military police in Joinville, northern Santa Catarina, on suspicion of stealing a Mitsubishi Triton Sport truck with Campo Alegre license plates. After the robbery, the suspects abandoned and set fire to the car in SC-108, Vila Nova area and fled on foot.
According to the prime minister, eyewitnesses reported that five people left the car on the spot and fled in the direction of BR-101.
The Prime Minister, with the support of the task force, entered the forest area and, after a search, discovered the suspicious group. During the search, the police found on the way two sheets of checks in the amount of 3,000 and 1,000 reais, a Seiko watch and a C6 Bank credit card.
A 23-year-old man and two women aged 18 and 19, as well as two teenagers aged 15 and 16, were detained.
The owner of the burnt vehicle was identified and found guilty of the group’s theft. They were taken to the police station.
