The alleged donation of furniture and appliances ended up at a police station in Chapeco, west of Santa Catarina. The resident suffered a loss of 800 reais when he thought he was receiving a donation. The coup was recorded by the civilian police and delegate Eder Matte issued a warning to avoid further casualties.

According to the statement of the victim to the Civil Police, the woman donated furniture and equipment through a social network. The victim became interested in the gift of a stove, a wardrobe and a laptop and got in touch.
The alleged owner of the items indicated that a freight charge of R$ 400.00 would have to be paid. The victim made a deposit, but the requests didn’t stop there. Shortly thereafter, the woman contacted and stated that the truck’s tire had burst and she needed 250 reais to buy another one and another 150 reais to fix it.
The person interested in donating made all the requested deposits and then was blocked and did not receive the items. The theft was reported to the police.
Deputy Matte warns people to be aware. “Beware of easy money or donations, as well as offers to sell at a price far below the market. Do not trade with strangers and have guarantees. This is a new coup that is being applied.”
