Florianópolis will receive two new bike lanes on SC-403 and SC-406, in the areas of Ingleses (north of the island), Rio Tavares (south of the island) and Porto da Lagoa (east of the island). They have one year to complete.

The Santa Catarina Capital Infrastructure Secretariat has begun the revival of SC-403 (Rodovia Armando Calil Bulos) in Ingleses, in the north of the island, on a municipal site. Work is being carried out immediately after descending the hill, towards the beach, to restore the drainage system.

The execution is considered unprecedented because it will be the first time that a public road of this type in Santa Catarina will have a bi-directional bike path (in both directions) in the central part. The cost of improvements is 8,077,000 reais. “Ingleses is one of the fastest growing areas in the city and the whole region will benefit from this work,” Mayor Topazio Neto said.

The median will be widened to make room for the bike lane and hence the lanes will be shifted. The cycle path will be paved with asphalt and will run flush with the traffic lanes and will also be accessible via pedestrian crossings.

But, in addition to the implementation of the bike path and the restoration of the drainage system, the works include the restoration of the asphalt pavement; restoration of sidewalks (sidewalks); implementing eight delays (four towards the beach and four towards the center) so that buses no longer need to stop in the lane; in addition to new road signs.

“The re-qualification of a road as important as this one, with drainage, paving, signs, sidewalks, cycle paths and bus stops, contributes to mobility, comfort and safety for users,” emphasizes Infrastructure Minister Walter Gallina.

SC-406 (Rodovia Antonio Luis Moura Gonzaga), between Río Tavares and Porto da Lagoa, which spans the south and east of the island, is another state highway that Florianópolis City Hall is reviving. In this case, the municipal section of 2.4 km between the highway and Avenida Campeche and another 2.5 km part of the responsibility of the state government.

In total, the highway extends for 8.3 km, so the work will be carried out on 4.9 km, namely between Elevado do Rio Tavares and Rua Vereador Osni Ortiga in Porto da Lagoa.

Drainage restoration work, which began in the first half of June, has already been completed on the 1.5 km section between the Tavares River Highlands and Multi Open Shopping, 40% of the required pipelines have been laid, and are not yet completed. in the process.

In this revival, the main novelty is also the implementation of the cycle path structure. In the case of a bi-directional paved bike path on a highway shoulder, discontinuous, meaning it will change from side to side depending on the width of the road shoulder to avoid expropriation. The new bike path will then connect to the existing one in Osni Ortiga and will be flush with the roadway like SC-403.

The work, of course, also includes the revitalization of the asphalt pavement and the restoration of sidewalks, as well as road signs. This work represents an investment of 11,847,000 reais.

Revitalization of both SC-403 and SC-406 is carried out by the contractor Britagem Vogelsanger Ltda.
