The hunt ended in the death of a man on Sunday (17) in rural Lebon Regis, in the Midwest of Santa Catarina. A 35-year-old man was shot in the forehead with a 12-gauge shotgun. The shot was fired by a 42-year-old friend who was hunting with him and claimed it was accidental.
The hunt took place in an area known as “26” within the city. After hitting his friend, the man turned to the PM (military police) and said that he was hunting with his friend when, while shooting at a deer, he accidentally hit his friend in the head.
According to the Prime Minister, the shooter said that they were about 100 meters away at the time of the shot. Camouflage clothes prevented the man from seeing his friend. He still tried to help, but the victim no longer showed signs of life.
The man dropped his gun into the bushes and sought help from Lebon Régis when he contacted the military police to tell them what had happened. According to the Prime Minister, none of the weapons used in the hunt were registered and none of the men had a hunting license.
The Prime Minister, civilian police and scientific police went to the scene, where they found the victim’s body and two guns. The author was handed over to the civilian police station in Kasador.
