The briefing and court hearing in the case of Eduardo Coimbra, the driver accused of hitting and killing military police officer Alexandre Maciel in Massarandub, north of Santa Catarina, in April of this year, is scheduled for September 23rd.
The prosecutor’s office charged Eduardo with brutal murder, causing general danger, as he was driving at high speed on a road with heavy traffic and pedestrians, and the policeman was dragged away.
The complaint also highlights that the crime was committed to secure Eduardo’s impunity, as he was hiding from the prison system at the time of the crime and running from the police when he ran over a police officer.
The driver also received a statement that he fled the scene and committed a robbery, restricting the freedom of the victim and threatening with a white weapon, because while trying to escape, he stole a truck and other items from the house and took a local resident hostage.
The testimony of the parties and witnesses of the crime will be collected at the court session. A court date has not yet been set.
