Residents of Lajes in Serra Santa Catarina, who suffered losses due to the large amount of rain that hit the municipality, can now make the “Sake Calamidad” starting this Thursday (7). You can withdraw up to R$6,220 from the FGTS (Guaranteed Service Time Fund).

Residents of Lagesh can apply until September 8 for a maximum amount of 6,220 reais. According to Caixa, it is necessary to have a positive balance in the FGTS account and not withdraw money for the same reason for less than 12 months.
The request is made through the FGTS application, access to the My Saques option, on a mobile phone. When making an application, it is possible to indicate the account of Caixa, including Poupança Digital Caixa Tem, or even another bank.
To date, about 129 municipalities in the states of Alagoas, Amapa, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo, Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina and Pernambuco have received permission to withdraw troops due to the disaster.
See the step-by-step withdrawal request process:
- Download the FGTS app and enter your registration details;
- Go to the “My findings” option and select “Other withdrawal situations – Public Disaster” – access to the city;
- Send the following documents: photo of an identity document, proof of residence in the name of the worker, issued no later than 120 days before the announcement of the disaster;
- Select the option to deposit the amount to a Caixa account, including Poupança Digital Caixa Tem or another bank, and submit a request;
- The term for returning the analysis and crediting to the account in case of approval of the withdrawal is five working days.
Documentation information:
- Identity card (driver’s license and passport are also accepted);
- Proof of residence in the name of the worker: electricity bill, water bill or other document received through the post office, issued no later than 120 days before the announcement of the disaster.;
- Marriage certificate or deed of stable union, if proof of residence is in the name of a spouse or partner.

Nearly 500 people were affected, Lagesh declares a state of emergency due to the rains.
Mayor Antonio Seron (PSD) of Lagesh declared a state of emergency on 5 May due to the rains. The municipality of Serra de Santa Catarina counted 158 displaced persons, of which 81 were homeless.

According to the Bulletin of the Civil Defense of Lages, 189.6 mm of rain fell in 72 hours. The level of the Karaa River exceeded the norm by 5.77 meters.
The homeless were helped by three shelters, which the municipality opened on an emergency basis. About 488 people were affected by rain events in Lages, including flooding, overflowing streams, landslides, roofing, falling walls and trees, rescues and movements, among others.
