A 55-year-old man suspected of having sexually abused his stepdaughter was arrested by civilian police through the DPCAMI (Delegation for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly) in San Miguel do Ouesta, far west of Santa Catherine. The arrest was made in the morning on Monday (20). The teenager is only 13 years old.

The victim told family members in May 2021 when the investigation began. The teenager, according to the police report, suffered from violence for more than a year and could not speak for a long time due to the constant threats she was subjected to by the man.
As soon as the victim’s relatives called the civilian police, they launched an investigation into the fact that the suspect had applied for pre-trial detention. The author was arrested and sent to the UPA/CMO (Forward Prisons Unit).
From now on, the civilian police have ten days to complete the investigation and forward the police investigation to the Ministry of Public Administration and the judiciary for legal action.
The police action took place during the period of the nationwide operation “Acalento”, aimed at combating crimes committed against children and adolescents. The operation is designed for the participation of the civilian police of all states of the Federation.
