The 41-year-old man was sentenced to six years, four months and six days in prison, in an initially closed regime, in addition to paying a 24-day fine for the crime of extortion. The trial took place in Pomerode 2nd District Court in the Itajai Valley.
According to the complaint of the deputy (the prosecutor’s office), the victim and the defendant established a virtual friendship on the social network and began to communicate, until at some point they exchanged intimate videos. Possessing such images, the man began extortion.
Also, according to the complaint, the man demanded that the victim deposit funds into his bank account, threatening that if his demands were not met, he would reveal the intimate images to the victim’s friends and family. Embarrassed by the threat, the woman made two deposits into the defendant’s bank account.
In his decision, Judge Edison Alvanir Anjos de Oliveira, Jr. points out that it was proven that the man, through a serious threat, embarrassed the victim in order to obtain an improper economic benefit for himself. Messages attached to the recordings show a conversation between them that proves the extortion described in the complaint.
