A 35-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday (15) on charges of keeping his companion in a private prison. The incident was recorded in the municipality of Chapeco in the west of the state of Santa Catarina.

A 40-year-old woman would have been arrested in her own home by a man over the weekend when, according to a complaint, he raped the woman. The victim’s family passed the information to the civilian police through a complaint.

The civil police said that with the help of the Chapeco Municipal Guard, after an investigation, they were able to locate the house and detain the man. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was hiding in the cladding of the house, but the garrison managed to catch him.

According to the police, when meeting with the victim, signs of bodily harm were confirmed. The case has been referred to the DPCAMI (Delegation for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly) in Chapeco, which is investigating the case.
