Pride 2023 demonstrations take place across Italy with events that started with Sanremo Pride (April 8, 2023) and will continue until the end of the summer with Monza Pride on September 16, 2023. If Pride is becoming more popular and visited, there are instead some municipalities that have decided to withdraw their support for an LGBTQIA+ rights rally. According to Espressomunicipality of Pordenone, municipality of Gorizia and two public universities of the region denied patronage of Friuli Venezia Giulia Pride (FVG Pride)scheduled for June 10th. The FVG Pride committee explains to the magazine: “The lack of sponsorship increases FVG Pride’s financial burden, but does not prevent it. Of course, we will have to bear higher costs, in particular for connecting to the electricity grid (for the Pride Village and related events that will take place on the 10th), and for occupying state land. A significant expense for a self-funded pride that does not accept corporate sponsors of its choice.”

As can be seen, in addition to the strong condemnation of Pride and the rights it represents, there are secondary and less obvious, but nonetheless important, ways in which some institutions decide to take a stand. The administration of the municipalities of Pordenone and Gorizia declared their desire not to support the event.because it’s too politicized. Preparations for Roma Pride 2023 are in full swing and, indeed, the godmothers of the event have already been chosen. We’re talking about Paola and Chiara, the iconic singing duo of the nineties, who are back in the spotlight thanks to furysingle presented at the Sanremo Festival 2023.

In fact, their latest single will be the anthem of Roma Pride 2023, with all its liberating longing for a dancefloor (and, more generally, an existence) where you can just be yourself, between glitter and synchronized ballet. “Their talent and glamour, combined with a female model of independence, make them the perfect references,” the ad explains.
