TVE journalist Mary Escario announced that she had breast cancer. “It’s time to pause, trust science as much as possible and focus all your energy on healing. I am one more with breast cancer and I am moving towards this,” the communicator wrote on her Twitter account.

Maria Escario, born in Madrid in 1959, has been with the RTVE team since 1985. She is known for her role in the news, where she developed the role of hosting Weekend or Sports newscasts on all editions of Newscast.

During his long career at the house, he has covered seven Olympic Games and dozens of international sporting events such as the World Cup, Champions League finals, Tour de France or Davis Cup finals among others. In 2018, she was appointed director of communications for RTVE, a position she held until May 2021.

Escario has received numerous awards, including the 2013 Ondas Award, the 2009 Zapping Award for Best Host, the Supreme Council of Sports Silver Medal for Sporting Merit, and the Juan Manuel Gozalo Award from the Olympic Committee.
