The United Kingdom Health Safety Agency (UKHSA) reported that the infection was detected during “normal monitoring process” influenza virus, following a positive test carried out by the man’s doctor with “respiratory symptoms”, the UKHSA explained in a statement today.

Also her chief veterinarian, Christine Middlemissassured that “specialist scientific and veterinary expertise” is being provided to strengthen the UKHSA’s investigation into this first case detected in the United Kingdom.

“Pig farmers must also tell your local veterinarian immediately there is no suspicion of swine flu in their herds,” the expert added.
