The state government plans to sell part of the Sapiens Parque territory, located in the north of the island, in order to obtain resources for the created real estate fund. Governor Jorginho Mello’s idea has always been to use public assets – land and buildings – to generate cash for other investments.
This intention was announced during a meeting between the governor and the mayor of Florianópolis, Topasio Neto, last Wednesday. Their area is 4.3 million square meters, which exceeds the area of the central region of the capital.
In a funny tone, the governor even offered to forgive IPTU’s debt on Sapiens land. According to the management of the innovation park, the debt for fiscal year 2023 is 9 million reais, while according to the mayor it is about 10.2 million reais.
Sapiens as a tourist and entertainment place
According to the general director of Sapiens Parque, this place should soon have a space that he wants to transform into a tourist and entertainment place, installing Passeio Sapiens of the same model as Passeio Primavera, in the area of Saco Grande, in the north of the island; and Passeio Pedra Branca in the municipality of Palos.
It is expected to open in early 2024 during the summer season. “This is a partnership with people from Pedra Branca who already have know-how in this area and who brought the project from Denmark,” explains Vieira.
INpetro (Institute of Oil, Gas and Energy), a research and development center of excellence that will work on projects, provide services and train human resources, is also underway. Partnership with the Federal University of Santa Catarina and Petrobras.
The site will also feature a photovoltaic power plant, donated by FIFA, with a capacity of one megawatt. In addition, a green hydrogen production facility was opened, the first of its kind in Brazil.
