The Chinese technology company’s 100% electric luxury car BYD Yuan Plus EV has arrived in Brazil and is already capturing the attention of consumers craving modernity and comfort.

To get an idea, in 2022 BYD surpassed Tesla, founded and led by Elon Musk, to become the world’s best-selling electric vehicle brand.

As a reminder, Tesla shares outperformed the combined market value of General Motors and Ford in 2020.

In a test drive with the model, I covered a long distance and confirmed the autonomy declared by the Chinese automaker. The Yuan Plus EV provides a city driving range (PBEV) of up to 458 km with safe driving.

On the highway a little less, 380 km. However, according to Inmetro, in Brazil, the safe mileage is 294 km of autonomy.

The only thing I didn’t feel was swimming in the blue ocean (similar to the thinking of W. Chang Kim and Rene Mauborgne) in this little explored market, because the lack of charging stations in the country puts us in a hurdle.

The BYD Yuan Plus EV is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor, with a maximum output of 204 hp. and maximum torque of 310 Nm. with acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds.

After 5 minutes of charging in the Yuan Plus electric car, charging another Blade battery reaches up to 150 km. Fast charging with an 80kW DC charger charges the model from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.

The difference between the Blade battery is that it is based on LFP (lithium iron phosphate). It has a longer life than an NCM (Nickel Cobalt Manganese) battery and is less likely to catch fire.

Multimedia

The DiLink multimedia center has a 12.8-inch screen that can be used both horizontally and vertically, just like a mobile phone screen. However, it is annoying that there is still no interface with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Comfort

The seats are very comfortable and soft. Made from a leather-like material, they adapt to the body of the car’s occupants.

Safety

The BYD electric SUV is equipped with DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system, intelligent adaptive cruise control (ACC + stop n’go), automatic parking, blind spot monitoring (BSD), traffic sign recognition (TSR) and automatic emergency braking (AEB). traction control system (TCS); and electric parking brake (EPB).
