With only a week left before Christmas Eve and the Christmas holidays, the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) indicates that in most of the peninsula it will be celebrations that took place under water.

The arrival of a new front will bring rain next Sunday in Galicia, and when it enters the peninsula, it will pour rainfall in this community, as well as in the communities of Cantabria, Castile and León, Extremadura and western Andalusia on Monday and Tuesday.

It is likely that on Wednesday and Thursday the rains will be limited to the Galician and Cantabrian communities, although it cannot be ruled out that they will pass over large areas of the peninsula, with the exception of the Mediterranean area.

Although there is still uncertainty in this regard, it is likely that more Atlantic storms will approach our territory next weekend, coinciding with the beginning of the Christmas holidays (Christmas Eve and Christmas), according to Aemet spokesman Ruben del Campo.

These storms will bring rain that will move from west to east, starting on Friday in Galicia and nearby areas, and spreading to the rest of the western half of the peninsula and the central part on Saturday and Sunday. In principle, snow will be limited to mountainous areas this weekend.

As for the week from December 26 to January 2, the forecast indicates that in most of the territory of our country, except for the far north, rain is possible, with more heavy precipitation in the southwest of the peninsula, as in previous days.

On the other hand, it is “not at all clear” what will happen to the rainfall during the first two weeks of 2023, as there is no clear trend, an Aemet spokesman said.

In terms of temperatures, temperatures could start dropping next Wednesday, “although overall it looks like the week will be somewhat warmer than usual” overall, a trend that continues into the first half of January.
