In the Brazilian market since 2017, Xlam Engineering, an Italian-Brazilian start-up specialized in research, sustainability and prefabrication, was born from the combined experience of three technical personalities and their respective operational structures.

It is an Italian-Brazilian start-up that offers the manufacturing sectors of the renewable forest processing and civil engineering industries full support in the development and implementation of new technologies and sustainable materials in the construction of cities.

The trio, composed of engineer Luca Oss Emer, architect Giovanni Berti and Dr. Roberto Cavazzana, avant-garde in research, application of new technologies and prefabricated timber structures, is responsible for creating new constructive and sustainable concepts that must be transformed into a real and innovative experience.

“ – In Brazil, we have been active since 2017 as representatives of the Habitech technology district and in 2017 we brought the Casa Habitech project to Santa Catarina. Since then, we have been analyzing and researching the behavior of this building for three years, and in 2020 we started work here in Blumenau, Xlam Engineering do Brasil,” says Rafael Lessa, Forestry Engineer and Project Manager of Xlam Engineering do Brasil .

Rafael explains that, according to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the construction sector alone accounts for about 30% of all greenhouse gas emissions on the planet. Thus, renewable materials such as wood can help reduce global warming. Wood absorbs carbon dioxide, and our new way of building is changing the balance of pollutant emissions.

“In addition, our technology solutions significantly reduce the high energy costs required for space heating and cooling in homes and buildings. With the use of innovative technologies and materials, these spaces become excellent in terms of environmental and acoustic quality,” adds the engineer.

He also says that Xlam’s products and services directly contribute to huge environmental liabilities such as wasting natural resources such as water and construction financial capital, helping to solve the most important problems for modern civil engineering: reducing construction time and labor skills.
