For this reason, the advent of 5G is a major milestone for the Internet of Things. With technology that provides faster Internet and no fluctuations, thousands of other objects can become “smart” and work with accuracy and speed.

IoT will guide action in the field and industry

The future is encouraging for both those working in technology and users of this type of service. For Christian Meyler, a software engineer and graduate student in computer science at UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina), the interest in the Internet of Things is the opportunity to make the world smarter in terms of connectivity and automation.

“Concepts such as smart grids, smart cities, Industry 4.0 and Agro 4.0 are embraced by IoT technologies and will have a major impact on urban and even rural society,” he notes.

In agriculture, the Internet of Things has become a valuable resource for monitoring planting data and safer animal care, reducing costs and increasing production. And the best part: this can be done remotely, for example, at the monitoring headquarters of several farms at the same time.

An example of this is technology that is able to measure soil moisture and soil type and thus indicate the ideal amount of water for irrigation. Thus, there is no waste or damp soil.

In Industry 4.0, to which Mailer refers, there is no doubt that the Internet of Things can be applied with endless possibilities and produce great results. Called the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it combines IoT with artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technology to streamline processes, prevent human error and accidents, and increase production.

Intelligent machines used in industry can process and send data in real time. For now, the advent of 5G is important so that the voluminous information that each piece of equipment generates can be sent without disruption and weight on the network.

For the environment, the IoT offers significant help. In addition to monitoring data such as air humidity, wind and predicting natural phenomena such as storms and earthquakes, it can be used in sewer systems and prevent drinking water pollution.

In the world, London, New York, Amsterdam and Paris are among the cities that can already be called smart cities for their actions towards this goal. In Brazil, Curitiba stands out, the capital of Parana, known for its public transport system with exclusive bus lanes, integration of terminals and vehicles that pollute the environment 90% less than traditional collectives.
