Technological innovation in public transport buses in Jaragua do Sul, north of Santa Catarina. From this Thursday (1) there will be a new tool on buses to help control the benefits offered by the system, such as tips: face recognition.
According to Senhora dos Campos, which is in charge of public transport, the e-tickets will recognize the faces of passengers in all vehicles operating in the municipality.
The facial biometrics system for e-tickets was created by Curitiba-PR’s Dataprom and has already been implemented in the devices installed inside the collective buses.
According to the municipal secretary for planning and urbanism, Gildo Martins de Andrade Filho, everything works automatically, that is, when a person sits down, a camera connected to the validator records three images of the passenger’s face.
Senhora dos Campos administrative manager Diego Bogo emphasizes that the system is quite advanced and goes beyond passenger characteristics such as skin color, hair or make-up, which guarantees a more accurate reading of information about each person. The images are compared with those of the TEM cardholder taken at the time of registration in the ticketing system.
If fraud is suspected, statutory sanctions are applied, which may be a temporary or complete blocking of benefits.
“This system will help to identify possible fraud, such as the use of elderly, student and special cards, other people,” comments the secretary. Thus, Andrade emphasizes that the Jaraguá TEM public transport card is for personal use and is not transferable to another person and should not be used by another person.
